What size and type of vessel is right for your meeting, incentive or group event? Knowing what your options are will enable you to choose wisely the ship that will meet your cruising needs. Mega and Mid-size vessels are able to offer larger conference centers more venues and more varied types of activities than are smaller vessels. However, smaller vessels offer more intimacy, the opportunity fore exclusivity (a full ship charter), and tend to be of 5-6 star quality.
Yachts can range from private yachts with two or three staterooms to yachts with 55 staterooms and can be either motor or sailing vessels. Some vessels such as Windstar's sailing vessels with a 148 passenger capacity are somewhat of a large yacht feel though really fall in the small ship category.
River boats and barges, like the other classes of vessels are available throughout the world. However, most ply the rivers and canals of Europe. They can be casual or elegant. River boats generally range from the 40-200 passenger capacity. They are perfect for small group charters as are the barges, which may accommodate 6-20 passengers and be perfect for board meetings or a small executive group.
The passenger counts below are approximate and are based on double occupancy. Many staterooms can accommodate triples and quads so that the larger mega-ships may actually accommodate 3,415 passengers when including third and fourth passengers sharing a stateroom.
